St Cuthbert's Three Church Trail Group

St Cuthbert's Three Church Trail Group

St Cuthbert's Three Church Trail Group was established in 2019 to improve the accessibility and visibility of the three St Cuthbert's Churches in the area of benefit. It was hoped the grant awarded would help to increase visitor numbers and celebrate the cultural, historical  and archaeological heritage and potential of the St Cuthbert's Churches in Corsenside, Elsdon and Bellingham (Grade 1 listed) and the important historic site of St Cuthbert's Wello in Bellingham.

The grant awarded for the project was put towards the costs involved with the creation of steps and a pathway between St Cuthbert's Church and St Cuthbert's Well at Bellingham, making safe gravestones within the churchyard and the printing of the walking guide for the St Cuthbert's Three Church Trail.

The aims of the project were to increase visitor numbers to the area with the hope the visitor would also stay longer thus increasing their spend within the area of benefit therefore benefitting the local economy.

The Community Benefit Fund (CBF), Small Donations Fund (SDF), Education Apprenticeship and Training Bursary (EAT) and Legacy Fund are administered by the Ray Windfarm Fund Community Interest Company (CIC) by agreement with Vattenfall.

Grants are awarded to local people and organisations who want to make a difference for their own community.
